Feeling Better!

I have had a really really lousy day! I got very little sleep because of a wickedly awful cough that has me waking up every few hours. My throat has hurt so badly that I haven't eaten much today even though I've been really hungry. I also had to move my classroom today which is extremely challenging when any sort of physical assertion gives me a coughing attack that has me struggling to breathe. I also had to make sure that I am very ready for school that starts up again on Wednesday. PLUS I'm on my period which just makes everything worse and has probably taken over and exaggerated how bad of day I had ;) HOWEVER, I called Jessica to borrow her humidifier which she was very willing to let me borrow I just had to wait a little bit of time before she would have it ready for me to pick up. Thing is that the only reason it took so long to have it ready was because she decided to make me some homemade chicken noodle soup as well. This made me feel really good. Then I got home and saw that she also sent me some cookies and some Emeren-C health stuff. Not going to lie, I cried! Partially because I'm on my period but a big part because I LOVE my family! It is wonderful to be apart of such a loving, caring family who go out of their way to do the little things that make such a big difference. Thanks Jess!

Mirror, Mirror!!!

BEFORE: I love this mirror! I have had it for a really long time. The only thing I don't love about it is the color. It doesn't match any of my other furniture.

AFTER: Yay for a mirror makeover! It finally matches my other furniture.....and so lovely to check myself out in ;)

Baby On The Go!

I was talking to Emilee tonight and she said that I need to post more photos online.  I decided to take a video this evening.  It originally was just going to be a video of Connor laughing at the wall (crazy kid) but then he decided to be a bit more entertaining!  I am amazed by how much this baby is learning.  Just last week he learned how to roll over and now he's starting to scoot.  It boggles my mind!  The video is a little long, but I think rather impressive! Enjoy!

Denver Denver Denver

So after a crazy two weeks of packing we finally went on the road for 2 days and made it here to Denver :). The halfway point night we stayed in a little po dunk town called Dumas, TX and had fun visiting the two story McDonalds (the nicest restaurant in town), and swimming at the hotel. The swimming towels were perfect size for Mckay :).

The first weekend here Wes had Labor Day off and so we decided to take a day trip down to Colorado Springs to walk through the Garden of the Gods. It was so beautiful! I had no idea Colorado had so much red rock. Mckay especially had lots of fun crawling on the rocks with his Daddy.

I'm doing the kissy face because at the very top of the rock, there is what they call the kissing camels :). Can you see it? It's actually a little better view from the picture of Wes and Mckay above.

So about a 20 minute drive from Garden of the Gods is a little town called Woodland Park, 8,000 ft. up into the mountains where Wes lived for the first 4 years of his life, and we decided to go find his old house...thats it with him down below.  It's a beautiful area as you can see... the second picture was taken right after we turned off his old street. I love seeing the mountains again!

The Edge owners also took Wes to a Broncos game. He had a really good time, but admitted that he liked BYU home games better still :).  The Mile High Stadium is crazy big and pretty darn sweet! He has been officially initiated into the Denver culture :).

I just thought this picture was cute :). We spend a few nights a week strolling around the Southlands mall where these fun umbrellas are.

Finally, yesterday after Wes got home from work we went down to the park on mainstreet in Parker (the city where our rental house is) to attend Oktoberfest! I got some cute handmade earrings and we picked up a lemonade from the crazy Lemonade Man Stand. The guy was very quirky but it was the best lemonade I've ever had!!

That is the update on all the fun stuff we have been up to lately. We have been living in an free apartment for the last 2 weeks until Edge's lease ran out, and now we are in a hotel room until we can get into our house. We are renting a 3 bedroom house down in Parker which is an amazing community, but we have to wait for the former tenant (who has been given eviction notices and all that) to get out.  I am excited to have internet again so I can read all your great posts :). We are so excited to be here and I am super excited to get to know the area better! (oh yeah and I can't wait to go to California tomorrow :) ).

Festivals & Fun!

I feel so bad for posting the last 3 and now this post.  Oh well, I guess I'm just in a posting kind of mood. . .

Tyler and I really like to get out of the house on Saturdays.  Especially when it's summer and the weather is so nice.  Winter will be here before we know it.  And so will the cold and snow which means no one wants to leave the house : /

Anyway - - - I have discovered that if I don't do any research on things to do, we always end up doing something like eating out at a restaurant.  There is nothing wrong with that, but it does tend to get a little old. You are guaranteed to spend at least 30 dollars and all you do is eat. So I decided to look online a few weekends ago for something to do.  What did I discover? OH MY FESTIVALS!

It is ridiculous how many festivals this state has toward the end of summer!  I couldn't believe it.  They have occupied several of our weekends as of late.  It has been great!

The first was The Oktoberfest at Snowbird

I'm still trying to become the camera crazy mother that takes photos of everything.  I'm not quite there, but this will do for now I suppose.  Tyler made Connor and I get a photo with this little prop.  I love it but I also feel like it's a little creepy.  For instance, Connor is an old man that has his hand on my waist-ish area.  It could be a little questionable if it was a little farther back.  And my lady is rather busty. . . a little awkward. It was either this or one with children.  I don't know why Tyler insisted on this one, I think he told me I was too old for the other one. Ha, rude.

Ash decided that she wanted to come with us so we picked her up on the way.  It was so nice to be able to have a little outing with her.

I told Tyler we should dress up next year like this family.  Connor will be in boy attire though.  And I won't be as old as that lady.

Next festival was Swiss Days!  Unfortunately, we got there, ate and then got rained out.  So we ended up going home right after eating.  The only photo I snapped was Niki's dog Loafie when he fell asleep in the car.  Nice face right?
The final festival was Peach Days!

I don't know why, but this festival was the one that started my obsession with festivals.  I have been wanting to go to Peach Days F-O-R-E-V-E-R.  I was thinking that it would be a festival that sold peach everything; peach mayonnaise, ice cream and peach flavored pickles.  But it was just a normal festival.  They had regular food, little tents set up up homemade goods, and surprisingly, no peach stands! I was pretty bummed.  It was a very nice day though.
Connor wore his new hat.  He was so cute! I think he is starting to look more and more like Daddy everyday!
This guy made the coolest little train out of an ATV and painted oil drums that had wheels on them.  I wish Connor was older so that he could go in it.  We should make Dad get some oil drums and make a train for the backyard.  We could use the lawn mower. :)
Connor had his first picnic! He didn't eat, of course.  But he laid on his blanket in the grass and looked up at the trees for the first time.  It amazes me that the little things that I take for granted, he still hasn't experienced. He liked it a lot.

Our spoils from Peach Days! We got the cutest little hat, a bag of peaches (we found a guy on the side of the road selling them about a block or so away, lol) and a jar of blackberry jam! Delish! We had such a good time.  We've had a blast every weekend.  We are one lucky family.

Just in case you didn't get a good enough look at this cute mug . . .

Connor Comics Vol. 1 & 2

Extra Extra! Here is the latest edition of Connor Comics!  I decided that this will be a monthly thing.  My eventual plans will be to get the photos after a year and frame them and put them in his room.  :) I'm excited about it! It's going to be super cute!!!

Vol. 1 -
Month 2 (basically)

Vol. 2-
Month 3

I know the borders are different colors.  I forgot to look at the first one when I made the second one this morning.  I think I like the second one better.  The white border will be more comic-like.  What do you guys think? Black or White borders? Miss and Love you all!
